Paper earrings

When I bought this lovely chiyogami paper I decided to use it for paper earrings.

It´s very simple:
1. Cut the earring shape from cardboard four times
2. Glue two pieces together
3. When it´s dry sand with fine sandpaper
4. Cover with acrylic base.
5. Paint sides with acrylic paint
6. Glue the paper on and cover with Mod-podge.
Optionally, apply coat of transparent varnish.
I like this project because variations of shape and pattern are endless

DIY: Wrist warmers

I love to wear wrist warmers in winter so I decided to make them from a pair of old tights. It was easy - I just cut the feet off and sew some white lace to the bottom and cut the other side to the mid forearm size. I´m happy with the result - they are warm and lovely.

Fairytale swap: black swan

For the fairytale swap everyone had to chose their favorite fairytale and make one piece of jewelry, handmade notebook, hair accessory, favorite quote and some small object (I made round box).
I decided for the Swan Lake fairytale and used Swan lake ballet , Swan Princess cartoon and  Black Swan movie as inspiration. I opted for balack and white contrast as a visual highlight of the story and here´s the result:

Scrappy swap

I´ve been participating in this interesting international swap organized by Kat from Flutter.Kat. We exchanged our fabric scraps and some small goodies made from scraps. This swap was "blind" so we only knew who our partner was until everyone received their goodies at the end. Therefore, I´ve sent package to Ann Marie from Toronto and received one from Caroline who lives in Toronto too. The swap will have a second round, so if you are interested, check Flutter.Kat at the begining of March.

Here comes the rain!

I´ve been away for summer holidays in a place with no internet connection, so I stopped posting on my blog.
Now I feel like I can start again and show you my new inspiration - clouds:

7. Craftzee; 8. MadisonCra

This one is a brooch I made from resin and I call it happy cloud. There will be more soon.

Shadow box

The idea was to decorate one of those house shaped shadowboxes for my wooden figurines, but I couldn´t find any in local stores, so I decided to make it.
I get wooden parts in hardware store and had them cut.

I put wooden parts together with wood glue, attached a hook on the back and paint it with white acrylic color. Finally, I decorated the background with paper. I wanted to keep the background simple so I used solid colors. Here´s how it turned out:

I can´t wait to make another one for my other collectibles.
Finally, let me introduce you my little guys from all around the world:
1. Chinese couple, I bought them in Shanghai
2. Vietnamese couple, I bought them in Ho Chi Min
3. Maneki-neko, I bought it in Charleston, USA
4. Korean couple, gift from Korea
5. Matrjushka dolls, gift from Russia and Estonia
6. Chicken, vintage pen sharpener
7. Doll, vintage from 70ties
9. Elephant, vintage pen sharpener

Canvas bag

Since I carry this plain canvas bag around, I have many ideas how to decorate it. So I started with the simplest one - I made a  bow, add some lace and attached to the bag. Now I just have to buy more bags...

Easter baskets

There are many ways to make paper Easter basket, but this time I decided to make it very simple. I used thick scrapbooking paper to make small, round baskets. Then, I decorated them with paper lace tape and paper flowers and put some painted eggs, chocolate eggs and small candies inside. It might be a good idea to hang them on the Easter tree.

Polka dots

I like polka dots on my mugs, pillows, underwear and even shoes. I like to store stuff in small round boxes. And, I just got an idea how to apply polka dot pattern on the boxes, easy way. All you need is to buy a sheet of circular labels in office supplies store in desired size and color (or, you can buy white ones and paint them in any color) and stick it to the box.

Here´s how to make it:

1. paint the box with acrylic paint
2. paint dots in desired color
3. place dots on the box
4. finish with mate varnish

Also, I made this birdie house with my little girl. We found the idea to make it out of wooden laundry clips in some old book, but I didn´t like the way the clips were assembled, so we made it our own way. We painted it in acrylic paint, stick the dots and, finally, put a birdie inside (who, I´m afraid, needs some improvement).

Some more polka-dotted stuff I like:

1. melamine popcorn bowl, Kaboodle
2. coffee mugs, Amazon
3. muffin paper cups, Splatcooking
4. paper plate, Platesandnapkins
